Cookery Club

We have been have been very lucky to have Oscar’s Dad help us at cookery club. He is a real Chef who works at Artisan Café and Wine Bar in Darwen. He has helped us to make lots of delicious things.

The children said:

“I enjoyed making brownies,” Oscar

“I liked it when you had to stir it all up and it was gooey.” Rogue

“I liked doing the mixing,” Ryley

“I’ve liked doing everything!” Tilly

“My favourite was making the scones and doing the kneading and the squeezing,” Mrs. Maddock

“I have enjoyed working with you all,” Oscar’s Dad.

  

  

 

Week 1

We made scones. We put some sugar (50g), self raising flour (450g), butter (110g), pinch of salt into a bowl. We added some milk (300ml) to make it all squishy. We mixed it with our hands. We put in some chocolate chips (as many as we wanted!). We made the mixture into balls. We squished it (shaped it) into scone shapes. We glazed it with milk and put it in the oven for 20 minutes on 160 C.

Week 2

We made spaghetti meatballs. We had 1kg of mince meat, a sprinkle of mixed herbs, chilli and garlic and mixed it together. We mixed it with our hands. Then we shaped it into small balls. We put them n the oven at 180 c for 10 minutes. We made a sauce with tinned tomatoes, tomato puree, mixed herbs, garlic and chilli. We cooked the spaghetti on salted boiling water and served together.

Week 3

We made pizzas. We used plain flour (350g) and yeast(2 teaspoons), sugar (1 teaspoon), warm water(240ml) and salt (1 teaspoon) and mixed together. We had to knead the dough. We patted it down so that it was flat.

we spread Passata on the base. We grated the cheese and sprinkled it on the top. We chopped some ham, peppers and pepperoni and added them. We cooked them for 10 mins on 180 c.

Week 4

Yummy chocolate brownies!

We melted the chocolate (200g) and the butter (250g) in a pan. Then we weighed out the plain flour (50g). We added 2 teaspoons of baking powder. Next we added 75g of cocoa powder and 360g of sugar. Next we cracked the eggs and whisked/beat them up. We sieved the dry ingredients together and poured the melted chocolate and butter mixture over. We mixed it together. Then we put the eggs in with the other ingredient. We put grease proof paper into the baking tin and poured in the mixture. We put it in the oven for 25-30 mins on 160 C.
