Reception

Welcome to Reception!

Welcome to our Reception Class page. Our teacher is Mrs. Nicholls and we are helped by Mrs. Maddock and Mrs. Gladstone.

To make our classroom a nice place to play and learn we have created our own class promises.

  • We have kind hands, kind feet and kind words
  • We share everything
  • We all help to tidy up
  • We use our manners
  • We sit nicely on the carpet
  • We put our hands up

We have great fun and do many exciting things both inside and in our outside area. Click on the tabs to have a look!

Science Week

We have been celebrating Science week with many scientific investigations. We loved watching and singing ‘Humpty Dumpty’ and talking about how he cracked when he fell off the wall. Our challenge was to make our own Humpty Dumpty (decorating a hard boiled egg) and building a wall out of different materials. We then had to think of a way of protecting Humpty Dumpty so that if he fell off the wall, he wouldn’t crack!

We were so excited and got busy straight away! We worked in small groups to design our Humpty Dumpty, select the resources that we wanted to build our wall with and then choose the best way to keep him safe! We showed great team work and resilience! Have a look at our amazing ideas!

Life Education Bus

The Life Education Bus came to visit us! The children thoroughly enjoyed going onto the bus to meet Harold the Giraffe! The children learnt about how the body works and how to keep healthy. They asked many questions and found out many interesting facts. This learning was then followed up in class with discussions on healthy eating, keeping clean and exercising. We are trying really hard to understand the importance of healthy living and we exercise everyday to keep fit!

We have recently got two new pets…Rainbow and Bob-Our new goldfish. We were very excited to find them in our classroom and we are helping to look after them. We are really interested in learning about fish and other creatures that live in water. This has led to our new topic of ‘Under the Sea’. Watch this space for more information on how we are going to transform our room!
