Supporting Dementia

Whittlefield Primary have become dementia friends with Ashmede Care Home on Padiham Rd, Burnley.  We have plans to take groups of children to participate in activities which have been planned by the staff at the home.  Our first activities include singing together and floor games!  Our children are so excited to make friends and take part in all the activities!  Photo’s to follow!

We wanted to become Dementia Friends because we would like to learn about what it’s like to live with dementia and the small ways we could help. We hope being a dementia friend will make life better for people affected by dementia within our community.

21st June 2018 - 'Floor Games'

On the 21st June our Dementia Friends visited Ashmeade Care Home.  We had heaps of fun playing floor games and Dominoes.  It was extremely rewarding to see the residents & children interacting with each other.  All the staff are so very proud!

12th July 2018 - 'Beach Day'

For our next visit on the 12th July we visited Ashmeade to take part in their beach day.  We played in the sand, paddled, played with the beach ball, chatted to the residents about beach related things and best of all, ate ice cream!  We had a brilliant afternoon and the Ladies at Ashmeade did too!
