Welcome to Year 5!
In Art we have been studying the life and work of the famous American artist- Georgia O’Keefe. We looked at her work and discovered that she loved to paint close up images of flowers using oil paints. Here are some examples of the amazing work we produced using oil pastels.
We’ve been really busy in Science! Recently our topic was Earth and Space, which had us all hooked! We used what we had learnt to create our own non-chronological reports. Soon, we will be visiting Jodrell Bank visitor centre to continue our learning! Also during Science Week, we started making cars powered by an electrical circuit! Watch this space for future pictures of our completed vehicles!
In Year 5 we have had a fantastic start to the new term! We are learning about legends in English and using large numbers in Maths, as well as studying the UK in our topic work.To celebrate Roald Dahl Day 2017, Year 5 had plenty of fun taking part in some drama activities based on his amazing book ‘Matilda’. We worked in pairs each taking the role of either Mrs Trunchbull, or Bruce Bogtrotter! It was great fun eating the chocolate cake! We then went on to write all about how we would feel if we were Bruce. In addition to this, we made our very own fizzy lifting drink and completed some Quentin Blake illustrations. A great day was had by all!
