Year 6 have had a really good start to the year. They have settled well into the routines of the day and are beginning to enjoy the challenges being set. We have had a busy half term so far with lots going on. The children have been learning basic first aid skills specifying in the heart, they have undertaken training on debt awareness and how to look after their money when they are older and they have been learning about how to keep themselves safe. We have learnt about the Earth focusing on the Equator, Tropic of Cancer, Tropic of Capricorn and all about Greenwich mean time. We have been reading ‘Running Wild’ by Michael Morpurgo and have been writing our own version of an adventure story. In Maths, we have recapped skills on addition, subtraction and multiplication and started to apply these in real life situations. Most exciting of all, we have just returned from our week away at Towerwood. The children had an amazing time and took part in kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, caving, ghyll scrambling, climbing, abseiling and obstacle course. The children all challenged themselves and stepped out of their comfort zone within the safety of the site. There was smiles all around and the children were shattered at the end of the week.
