Our teacher in Year 6 is Mr Booth and he is helped by Mrs Root and Mrs Murphy.
It has been an exciting start to Year 6 and we are looking forward to teaching you this next year and hope you will enjoy your time in Year 6.
Some work will be challenging, but it’s lots of fun too!
Please ensure your child comes to school in their PE kit on every day during this first term. We go swimming on a Tuesday afternoon so children ned their swimming kits then. We encourage the children not to wear any jewellery to school. If your child wears earrings please remove them prior to our PE lessons.
In Year Six, your child will be given the opportunity to change their home reading book every day. Any book that needs changing needs to be accompanied by your child’s Reading Record. Please write a comment in the Reading Diary to say that the book is finished. You may also write comments based on your child’s home reading. The children will be given a stamp every time they read with an adult and they can collect these stamps and swap them for prizes!
The children are expected to read at least three times every week. The children should also access TT Rockstars to practise their times tables as often as they like. We also have access to IDL for reading and maths so the children can access this at home whenever they would like.
Toast and Snacks
On arrival in school, the children receive toast every day. At playtime, the children can bring in a snack to school. We are a healthy school so this snack should be healthy. Fruit, vegetables and small cheeses are perfect. Children should not be bringing sweets or crisps for snack.

Whittlefield's girl's football team did the school proud as they competed against other schools across the borough in a tournament down at Shuttleworth college. Their energy, enthusiasm and teamwork were key features of their enjoyable afternoon. Well done girls!!!
Well done to Whittlefield's football team who reached the finals of the Burnley School's College tournament. Unfortunately, they didn't make quite make the final but they had fun and a fabulous effort was given by all.
