Year 5 2024 - 2025
It has been an exciting start to Year 5 and we are looking forward to teaching you this next year and hope you will enjoy your time in Year 5.
Some work will be challenging, but it’s lots of fun too!
Autumn Term
We started the year by looking at a book called 'All are welcome.' We learnt all about ourselves, our families, community and stereotypes. We completed a lot of art work about our individuality and celebrated our differences. Here are some pictures of the work we created.
English
In English, we have been focusing on the legend of Gelert based in North Wales. The legend tells the story of a trusted hunting hound who is tragically killed by his owner. The children have been generating conversations about what the characters might have been saying to each other.
Maths
In Maths, we have been learning about place value. We have been working really hard on understanding how to read, write and say numbers up to 1,000,000. E.g. 234,568 = two hundred and thirty-four thousand five hundred and sixty-eight.
In Science we have started our topic on 'Earth and Space'
