Spring 1

This half term we have lots of exciting topics to explore. 

In English we will be looking at the story 'Supertato'. We will be using this story to help us learn new skills, for example: Making predictions, sequencing events, writing instructions and adapting stories to make them our own. We will have lots of fun activities throughout our topic, one being taste testing different fruits and vegetables. This then link nicely to our DT topic 'Fruit Kebabs'. We will learn all about fruit and vegetables, healthy eating and preparing food. 

In Geography this half term we will be exploring the question 'What is it like in Burnley?' We will be looking at the areas that surround Burnley, features of Burnley and human and physical features in Burnley. It will be excellent for the children to discover the town they live/go to school in and discuss Burnley with their friends.

In maths we are moving onto place value within 20. This is similar to the learning last half term but moving on from numbers 1-10 to 10-20. 

For our science topic we are going to explore plants by identifying common plants, learning how they grow and change throughout the term. We will also carry on our seasons topic, looking at the changes that happen throughout winter.
